My Smash Burgers

I had seen these cooked a lot by the people I follow on instagram and really wanted to try them for myself. After finding hundreds of recipes online I decided to make my own up and they varied so much. They came out great and I love them with plastic cheese much to my wifes horror! Cook these in batches depending on the size of your grill as once flattened they take up a lot of room.

Feeds - This recipe fed a family of four (two adults and two children) with the adults having double burgers

Time - 15-20 mins prep, aroun 15 min cooking plus time for lighting the BBQ

Ingredients

Packet of beef mince (10%fat)

Half an onion diced as finely as possible

2 cloves of garlic - crushed

Two tsp paprika

Chilli flakes (add to your preference)

Plastic cheese (or whichever you cheese you like on your burgers)

Equipment used

Cast iron flat griddle (Plancha)

Burger press

A 100mm square of greaseproof paper

Method

Combine The beef mince, onion, garlic, paprika and chilli flakes. Keep mixing until all of the colous are even and mixed through

Roll into balls a bit bigger than a golf ball

Light the BBQ,, I use my Kamado for this as the cresent placha is made for it but most main BBQ brands will sell one for most of thier grill types

When the plancha is hot brush a very small amount of olive oil to help prevent the burgers from sticking. You wont need a lot as the fat will come out of the burgers during cooking

Place the balls on the plancha for a minute

Lay the greaseproof paper on top of the of the burger balls and flatten with the burger press (or spatchula)

Cook until browned and flip.

The burgers are cooked when the internal temprearure reaches 72C or 162F
